While Oz’s social media videos and messages fell flat, Fetterman’s campaign consistently scored points against him.
During the campaign, Fetterman’s team falsely labelled Oz as a “carpetbagger” for having moved to the state only to run for office. Over the last few decades, Oz has called New Jersey home, although he also owns a $50 million vacation home in Palm Beach, Florida.
It wasn’t until December of 2021 that he bought a home in the Keystone State. The Public Work Carried Out by John Fetterman
Sadly, Fetterman’s best friend passed away in a vehicle accident while he was still a student at the University of Connecticut. John would elaborate in the future on how this occurrence had a significant influence on him and how it led him to pursue a career in public service. John started volunteering at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America after the passing of some of his friends.
He was soon partnered with an 8-year-old child whose father had just recently passed away from AIDS and whose mother would soon also pass away from AIDS. Both of the boy’s parents had AIDS. Following the mother’s departure, Fetterman made good on his commitment to care for the boy in her absence. John first started working for AmeriCorps in the year 1995. Soon after that, he was responsible for assisting students in the Pittsburgh suburb of Braddock to obtain their GEDs.
John made his permanent move to Braddock in 2004 and two years later, he was elected to serve as the city’s part-time mayor and the youth program’s full-time director. In 2006, he was elected to the position of mayor permanently and he will continue to hold that position until 2019, when he will be sworn in as the Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania.
Because the mayor’s office only paid $150 per month, John decided not to work any other jobs that brought in money while serving as mayor, which would ordinarily require someone in his position.
That is not a typo on your part. According to John’s declarations regarding his finances, during the period that he served as mayor of Braddock, his parents provided him with an estimated amount of financial support equal to $54,000 in the year 2015.
In 2013, John exchanged one dollar with his sister for the purchase of a former Chevrolet dealership which he and his wife Gisele subsequently transformed into a home. In 2007, the sister paid $70,000 to acquire the property.
In 2016, Fetterman made his initial bid for the Senate. However, he was unsuccessful. He won the position of Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania in 2018. His annual compensation as Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania was $217,610 when he held that position. In 2021, John made public his intention to run for the Senate once more. After that, he won the Democratic nomination with nearly 60 percent of the vote.
The two candidates became direct adversaries after Dr. Oz’s victory in the Republican primary. Both Fetterman and Oz engaged in a contentious and at times, acrimonious social media campaign over much of the year 2022. Most people would agree that Fetterman’s side did a significantly better job of portraying Oz as an inept, out-of-state carpetbagger who made embarrassing mistakes.
