MacKenzie was married to Jeff Bezos before she married Dan in 2021. On Sept. 26, according to court documents that E! News got on Sept. 28, she asked for a divorce from Dan. According to the papers, the couple has a written separation agreement that MacKenzie wants the court to enforce. With the help of the separation agreement, they will decide how to split their things, property, assets, and debts.
As for Dan, the court papers show that he signed on September 19 to agree with MacKenzie’s petition. When E! News called Dan’s lawyer, he didn’t say anything.
Forbes named MacKenzie the fourth richest woman in the world in April. At the time, her net worth was said to be $43.6 billion.
The Washington Post says that she met Dan at the Seattle school where her four children went to school and where he worked as a science teacher. They got married in 2021. Two years before their wedding, MacKenzie and Jeff Bezos, who used to run Amazon, said they were getting a divorce after being married for 25 years.
Jeff and MacKenzie made a joint statement in January 2019 that said, “After a long time of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and live our lives together as friends.”
Hours after the couple announced they were breaking up, multiple news sources said Jeff had been dating Lauren Sanchez, who used to work with him on Good Day L.A.
In April 2019, nearly four months after the breakup, Jeff and MacKenzie announced on Twitter that they were no longer together. The next day, Lauren and Patrick Whitesell, who was her husband at the time, filed papers to end their marriage. The divorce was finalized in October.
