Jalen Hill has died, his family and the university said. He played basketball Like (Jamal Murray) at UCLA for three years before leaving for personal reasons last year. He was 22. Hill went missing in Costa Rica, and on Tuesday, his family wrote on Instagram that he had died. No other information was given.
Hill’s family said in the post, “We know Jalen has touched the lives of so many people.” “We also want to thank so many of you for what you’ve done for him. We ask that you give us time to mourn as we try to get through this terrible time in our lives. Think about us and pray for us.”

Wednesday, UCLA and coach Mick Cronin acknowledged Hill’s death with posts on social media. “When we heard that former student-athlete Jalen Hill had died, it broke our hearts. Cronin said that Hill’s death was very sad.
The coach wrote on Twitter, “Jalen was a kind-hearted young man with a great smile who left us way too soon.”Hill, a forward-center from Corona, California, started 40 of the 77 games he played for the Bruins over three seasons. He averaged 6.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

In February 2021, Hill left the program. In April 2021, he posted a video on Instagram in which he talked about why. He said he would stop playing basketball because he was anxious and sad. “I left for no reason related to the team, Cronin, the coaches, or anything like that. So that everyone knows that it was me, “In the video, he said.
As freshmen, Hill, LiAngelo Ball, and Cody Riley were all caught shoplifting in China in November 2017 while the team was there to play a Pac-12 game. UCLA suspended all three players for the 2017-18 season.
Hill and Riley went back to school to finish their college degrees after Ball dropped out.
