‘Jackass’ Star Bam Margera Reveals He Was Near Death After ‘Gnarly’ COVID Case, Seizures

Bam Margera, the troubled former “Jackass” star, says he almost didn’t make it to the new year. He says that last month, he was “basically pronounced dead.”

On Thursday’s episode of “Steve-Wild O’s Ride!” podcast, the 43-year-old skateboarder told Steve-O, 48, about his most recent trip to the hospital.

Margera said he went to the hospital because he had a “gnarly” case of COVID-19. There, he had four seizures, each lasting 10 to 20 minutes, and his “body shut down.”

He said, “On the fourth one, I bit my tongue so hard that it was almost coming off.”

“It was swollen and puffy and wouldn’t fit in my mouth. I also drank infected blood, which gave me pneumonia, so when the shaman took me to the hospital, I had my fifth seizure and couldn’t breathe without a tube down my throat.”

Five days later, he remembered waking up. He remembered the hospital staff telling him, “We tried to take the tube out, but you weren’t breathing on your own.” “Man, when they took that tube out, I felt like I sucked on Darth Vader’s d—k,” Margera said with a laugh.

The Post asked Margera’s representative for comment. In an Instagram post from December 10, he told fans about his health scare and said he was out of the San Diego hospital.

Margera has been through a rough few years. In June, he skipped out on a court-ordered rehab stay for his high-profile drug problems, which sent the police on a hunt to find him. After getting out of rehab more than once and being seen in a bar in Sarasota, Florida, Margera returned to rehab in September.

In February 2021, just a few days after saying he was going to get help for his mental health, Bam Margera said he was fired from “Jackass Forever” because he tested positive for Adderall, a drug he said he had been taking for a decade to treat attention deficit disorder.

In August of that year, he filed a lawsuit saying that he was forced to sign a “wellness agreement” while in rehab in 2019 in order to be in the 2022 movie. In April 2022, he settled his heated lawsuit against Johnny Knoxville and the “Jackass” team for firing him without cause.

Margera asked the court to drop the case and reportedly worked out a private deal with producers Knoxville, Spike Jonze, and Jeffrey Tremaine as well as Paramount Pictures, MTV, Dickhouse Entertainment, and Gorilla Flicks.
