Ime Udoka Made ‘Unwanted Comments’ Toward Female Celtics Staffer After Alleged Affair

Stadium Shams Charania, an NBA insider, says that Celtics head coach Ime Udoka may miss part of the 2022–23 season because of a relationship he has with a team staff member.

New information has come out about the “improper” relationship that Celtics head coach Ime Udoka had with a staff member. On Thursday, he was suspended for the whole 2022-23 season because of this relationship.

On Thursday, reports came out that the coach had an affair with a female member of the Celtics’ staff that they both agreed to. The Athletic, on the other hand, said that the team knew about the relationship in July, but they didn’t get involved until Udoka made “unwanted comments” to the woman. After internal interviews and a closed-door meeting on Thursday with team owners and president Brad Stevens, who was the team’s last head coach, they decided to suspend Udoka for the whole season.

In a statement he released Thursday night, Udoka said that he agreed with the team’s decision.

In the statement, he said, “I want to apologize to our players, fans, the whole Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down.” “I’m sorry I put the team in this tough situation, and I agree with what they chose to do. Because I care about everyone involved, I won’t say anything else.”

Udoka was hired as the Celtics’ head coach in the off-season of 2021. In his first season, he led the team to the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Golden State Warriors in six games. Before, he was an assistant coach for the Nets for a year. He also worked for the 76ers and the Spurs.

Since 2010, Udoka has been dating actress Nia Long, and they have a son together. Since 2015, they’ve been engaged, but they haven’t gotten married yet.
