How Much TikTok Pays Employees? According To Salary Data

TikTok is hiring a lot of people in the US, where big tech companies are getting more and more competitive. The number of people using the app skyrocketed last year, and the company says that it now has more than one billion monthly active users around the world. And as a result, competitors like Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat added features that were similar to theirs.

The company has been hiring more people to keep up with the competition and meet growing user demand. TikTok fired some employees earlier this year as part of a plan to change how its advertising team worked. But the company is still hiring. Its website lists more than 2,000 job openings in the US.

Even though current and former TikTok employees have said that the work environment is stressful and that some jobs require working outside of normal business hours, the company continues to get applications from people in cities all over the US.

Insider updated its analysis of how much TikTok employees make in the US based on salary information from more than 900 US work-visa applications for more than 400 different jobs.

The US Department of Labor’s Office of Foreign Labor Certification made the data public. It shows how much TikTok and ByteDance said they would pay workers they wanted to hire in the US through work visas. Only base salaries are included in the data, not other types of pay like stock options or cash bonuses.

It shows, for example, that TikTok pays $100,000 or more per year for some content operations jobs and that ByteDance pays up to $200,000 per year for software engineers to work on its AR-effects platform.

The data shows that between October 2020 and June 2022, TikTok and ByteDance offered base salaries for a variety of jobs that ranged from $30 an hour to $400,000 per year.

Our full analysis breaks down salaries for jobs like product and engineering, data and research, and roles that focus on making money or forming partnerships.
