Fans of Heartstopper, I have good news! The cast of Netflix’s queer coming-of-age rom-com series released a new video on Christmas Day to wish fans of the show a very happy holiday season. Since this time of year is often associated with giving gifts, it was only natural that Joe Locke, Kit Connor, Tobie Donovan, Yasmin Finney, and William Gao would show up with something for fans of the show. That something was the exciting news that Season 2 will start in 2023.

Heartstopper was a huge hit for Netflix, which renewed the heartwarming show for two more seasons less than a month after it came out in April of this year.

Heartstopper is based on a series of graphic novels by Alice Oseman of the same name. It follows teens Charlie Spring (Locke) and Nick Nelson (Connor) and their friends as they grow up and figure out who they are. Some people, like Charlie and Elle (Finney), went on a journey to find out exactly who they are and make their wider world into one that accepts them without apology. Nick, on the other hand, went on a journey to find out more about himself and figure out what his growing feelings for Charlie were.

We don’t know much about Season 2’s plot yet, but since Season 1 was based on the first two books in Oseman’s series, we can assume that Season 2 will be based on or at least include the next two books. We won’t know for sure until 2023 if this means a teen-angst-filled school trip to Paris or not.

Heartstopper stars Locke, Connor, Finney, Donovan, Gao, Sebastian Croft, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Rhea Norwood, and Jenny Walser. For Season 2, Jack Barton, Nima Taleghani, Bradley Riches, and a newcomer named Leila Khan will join the cast. As of now, we don’t know if Olivia Colman, who played Nick’s mom in Season 1, will be back for Season 2.

Heartstopper Season 2 Release Updates

As was already said, the second season of Heartstopper finished filming in early December. Creator Alice Oseman made the announcement, and stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke joined her in a photo to make the happy news official. Along with a picture of the three of them holding a film script, the show’s Instagram account said, “And that’s a wrap on Heartstopper Season 2

As of the end of December 2022, there is still no official date for when Netflix will add season 2 of Heartstopper. This means that right now, we can only guess when the release might happen.

When Could The Heartstopper Season 2 Come Out?

Netflix said that the popular show would be back in 2023 and that it had also been picked up for a third season. But no one knows when it will come out. Season 1 came out in April 2022, almost a year after it had been filmed. We don’t think we’ll have to wait a whole year for season 2, but we do think we’ll have to wait a little while.
