Who is Tamia Hill?
On May 9, 1975, Tamia Marilyn Washington Hill was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. While her mother, Barbara Washington-Peden, is black, her father is white.
Tamia was raised in Canada with her mother and three younger brothers. She completed high school in Walkerville and then enrolled at the Walkerville Collegiate Institute in Windsor.

Grant Hill Met His Wife Tamia
While Grant was shooting hoops, his future wife Tamia was competing in singing and dancing competitions in her hometown of Ontario, Canada, from a young age.
She signed a deal with Warner Bros. Records in 1994 and received her first Grammy nomination the following year.
Tamia met Grant in 1996 at the Soul Train Music Awards after one of Tamia’s famous friends, singer Anita Baker, introduced them. They dated for three years before getting married in 1999.
“We have so many meaningful wedding day memories that stand out,” the couple told People magazine in 2023. “But we both still laugh that we didn’t get to eat any of the reception food… We didn’t realize we hadn’t eaten until we boarded the limo after the reception to drive two hours from Battle Creek to Detroit because we had an early flight out the next morning for our honeymoon.”
