Former Trump Lawyer Departs Legal Team Due To Internal Fractures

On Saturday, Timothy Parlatore, a former Trump attorney, said he quit the former president’s legal staff due to internal conflict.

“It had nothing to do with the case itself or the client,” Parlatore explained to CNN. “The real reason is that certain people made defending the president much more difficult than needed.”

Parlatore, one of the lawyers representing former President Trump in the Mar-a-Lago documents dispute, stepped down earlier this week. Boris Epshteyn, a longtime Trump associate and in-house counsel, was named the principal cause of the difficulties.

“In particular, there is one individual who works for him, Boris Epshteyn, who had done everything he could to try to block us, to prevent us from doing what we could to defend the president,” Parlatore explained.

“He acted as a sort of filter, preventing us from communicating with and receiving information from the client.” In my perspective, he was not completely honest with us or the client about specific issues,” he continued.

Following the FBI’s initial search of Mar-a-Lago in August, the former Trump attorney accused Epshyten of attempting to obstruct investigations of the former president’s properties for additional sensitive items.

“More recently, as we approach the end of this investigation and [Special Counsel] Jack Smith and ultimately [Attorney General] Merrick Garland will make a decision on what to do, he was preventing us from engaging in that strategy,” Parlatore added.

A Trump official told CNN that Parlatore’s charges were “unfounded and categorically false.”
