The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is looking into the recent leaks of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6). Rockstar Games told the FBI about the leaks, so the FBI is now looking into the matter.
On September 18, a hacker posted 90 videos of gameplay from Rockstar’s upcoming project on GTAForums. These videos took less than an hour to watch. Everything about GTA 6 was shown in the leaks, from the main characters to animation tests. It is thought to be one of the worst leaks in the history of video games.
A few days after the story broke, Rockstar contacted the FBI. After a series of similar attacks on major companies, the FBI will be directly involved in the case. It is thought that the alleged suspect is part of the Lapsus$ ransomware gang.
The FBI Wants To Find Out Who Hacked The GTA 6 Files
According to a post on September 19 in the Uber Newsroom, the company thinks the attacker is part of the Lapsus$ group, which has been in the news lately.

Hacker websites like BreachForums and Doxbin seem to agree with the claims. They think the attacker is a 16-year-old from the United Kingdom. Just in the last year, Lapsus$ went after these companies:
Uber and Rockstar are on that list since they were both attacked on September 15 and 18. In their official statement, Uber mentioned that Lapsus$ might have also been involved in the GTA 6 leaks. Several members of the criminal gang were caught earlier this year, which could be said.
Since then, both companies have talked to the FBI and the US Department of Justice. If the hackers who leaked information about GTA 6 are caught, they will likely face serious charges. When this was written, the FBI investigation was already well underway.
Rockstar And Uber Have Been Greatly Affected By Security Breaches
Many industry experts have talked about how bad the GTA 6 leaks are. As a result of the security breach, Jason Schreier, a journalist for Bloomberg, thinks that Rockstar will probably limit the number of employees who can work from home. However, this is not yet confirmed.

The hacker also said he would release the source code of the GTA 6 leaks. If that’s the case, this move could cause big delays because Rockstar would have to start over with the source code. Also, the same group is said to have broken into Uber’s VPN, but Uber has said that no user data was lost in the process. In this case, they still told the police about the security problem. The FBI will probably look into each of these cases separately.
