DOJ Files Charges Against Actor From ‘Bob’s Burgers’ And ‘Arrested Development’ For Capitol Riot

A Hollywood actor who appeared on “Mr. Show,” “Arrested Development,” “Bob’s Burgers,” and “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” as well as in “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” has been detained and charged in connection with the Jan. 6 attαck on the United States Capitol.

According to court filings, Jay Johnston is charged with felony obstruction of officers during a civil disorder and many misdemeanor counts.

In December 2021, The Daily Beast reported that Johnston had been “banned” from “Bob’s Burgers,” where he played Jimmy Pesto Sr.

Johnston was one of the hundreds of Jan. 6 participants identified by online sleuths but not jailed. A funeral home owner from Long Island, New York, was arrested on Wednesday.

According to court filings, Johnston entered the Capitol’s upper west tunnel, where some of the most violent attαcks of the Jan. 6, 2021 incident occurred, and “assisted at least three other rioters by pouring water on the rioters’ faces.” According to the records, he used a stolen Capitol officer shield as rioters clashed with officers.

An attorney for Johnston phoned the National Threat Operations Center. Three of Johnston’s current or former associates told the FBI that images taken on Jan. 6 showed Johnston, and one of the associates provided a message in which Johnston confirmed being at the Capitol on that day.

Over 1,000 people have been arrested in connection with the Capitol attαck, with hundreds more on the way.
