Although these might not be the most prestigious prizes, everybody who watched the fourth season of Stranger Things on Netflix knows that the show deserves every one of them. The Television Academy would be out of their minds to give the award for Outstanding Music Supervision to any other play if they knew that this season was responsible for shooting both Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” and Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” to the top of the music charts more than three decades after both of those songs were released.
Music supervisor Nora Felder deserved not one but two Emmys for her work on that episode. The fact that they won for sound editing and mixing speaks for themselves. Is it the strike of the clock? Are those cracks in the earth? Vecna muttering “Maaaaax”?
Simply thinking about it gives me shivers. It would help if you also didn’t forget the horrific Vecna prostheses that Henry Creel wore. The actor Jamie Campbell Bower deserves a shout-out for being able to sit through it every morning.
While Stranger Things fans may have hoped for a more successful evening, where is Sadie Sink’s Emmy?! — they have reason to be proud of the awards given to the show. If there is one aspect of production that is consistently strong throughout Stranger Things, it is the technical side. This show hires creative people who are incredibly talented at their jobs, and it is evident from watching the show that they are successful.
