Why Has Chicago Fire Been Removed From Sky?

Chicago Med and Chicago Fire, two Dick Wolf series, will no longer be available on Netflix outside of the US. Both will stop streaming on Netflix on September 1, 2022.

Both programs are part of a trilogy now airing on NBC and are set in the Chicago universe (Notably, Netflix has never licensed Chicago P.D.). They follow physicians, nurses, and firefighters as they deal with their daily work challenges.

Chicago Med and Chicago Fire were given Netflix licenses in 14 areas on September 1, 2021. It was able to secure seasons 1-4 of Chicago Fire and Chicago Med. They will leave the service after a year because they only have a one-year license.

As stated, these two shows will no longer be available on Netflix beginning September 1, 2022. However, you will see a “last day to view notice” within the Netflix application.

According to the announcement, the show will end on August 31, 2022, but it merely relates to the final viewing day. On September 1, it will depart at midnight in each region it is leaving.

The following areas are predicted to lose the shows:

  • Australia
  • Belgium
  • Canada
  • Germany
  • France
  • Iceland
  • India
  • Italy
  • The Netherlands
  • South Africa
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Turkey
  • The United Kingdom

This move might have been anticipated because Netflix in the US lost Chicago Med after just a year on the platform. Chicago Fire, however, didn’t have a US license, in contrast to Netflix internationally.

Although NBC Universal hasn’t precisely spread Peacock around the globe like other streaming competitors, they mostly have a presence in most international locations.

Only a few seasons of the shows are available for streaming in the UK on Now, owned by Comcast and Sky. With the removal from Netflix, we might notice a more comprehensive variety. Use a tool like JustWatch to determine where the series is headed. Both shows are available on Prime Video in a handful of the other locations we looked into.
