Bodies of 3 Adults, 5 Minors Found Inside Enoch City Home

ENOCH, Utah — Police say that eight dead bodies were found in an Enoch City home on Wednesday. All of the bodies had been shot.

Officials from Enoch City said that three adults and five children were found in the house in the 4900 block of North Albert Drive. When police went to the house to check on the people living there, they found the bodies inside.

All of the victims were from the same family, but it’s not clear why a welfare check was done or if the police knew the family before.

“This is not normal and doesn’t happen very often, especially in a small town in rural Utah. We’re all related, so this affects us all, and everyone has some connection to the people involved and to the family as a whole “Rob Dotson is the city manager of Enoch City.

A friend of the family is shocked and said that something like this just doesn’t happen in the small, close-knit town of Enoch.

“It’s almost like we grew up so sheltered in these small southern Utah communities that we don’t see a lot of this,” explained Tina Brown. “Sure our kids hear about it on the news and on YouTube and podcasts and you know Dateline. That’s what my oldest said, he was like mom, stuff like this happens on Dateline, but it doesn’t happen here.”

The victims’ names and ages haven’t been released yet, but people who knew the family was shocked by what happened.

“I just feel terrible, they were just really nice people and I mean, it’s going be one of those things that who knows,” said neighbor Tom Deville.

Officials also said that they don’t think the public is in danger and that no suspects are still out there. All five of the kids were in the Iron County School District. The district said that there will be a Crisis Intervention Team at schools to help students and staff who need help dealing with how they feel about what happened.

“We are saddened by the loss to our school community and will make every effort to help you and your child as needed,” the district wrote in a statement.

Brown also said that she thinks the tragedy will have a big effect on the community in the days to come.

“I think what will happen in our community and schools in the next few days will have a ripple effect,” she said. “I even don’t know what will happen.”

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox posted on social media about how sad he was about what happened on Wednesday.

“Our hearts go out to everyone who has been hurt by this stupid violence. Please say a prayer for the people of Enoch.”

There is an investigation going on right now.
