Apple Shuts Down Weather App Dark Sky

Apple has said that the popular weather app “Dark Sky” will no longer be available as of January 1, 2023.

Before in September of last year, Apple took down the app from the App store. The app should no longer work now for those who are still using it.

Apple bought Dark Sky in March 2020, and some of the app’s features have been added to the Weather app that comes with the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Apple released a support document in early December that tells people who use the Dark Sky app that they can switch to the Weather app instead. The Weather app has “hyperlocal” forecasts, such as rain for the next hour, hourly forecasts for the next 10 days, high-resolution radar maps, and alerts for severe weather.
