Actor Anne Heche Dies A Week After Car Crash Aged 53 (Breaking News)

A week after she was seriously hurt in a car accident, US actor Anne Heche died. A family member confirmed the news to the US online news site TMZ in a statement: “We have lost a bright light, a kind and joyful soul, a good mother, and a loyal friend.

“Anne will be greatly missed, but she will live on in her beautiful sons, her famous body of work, and the causes she worked so hard for. Her bravery in always telling the truth and spreading her message of love and acceptance will have an effect that will last for a long time.

On Friday afternoon, representatives for Heche, who is 53 years old, said that she was “brain dead,” which is what the law in California calls death. It was said earlier in the day that Heche would have her life support turned off. It is known that her heartbeat was kept going in case she could receive an organ donation.

Heche’s oldest son, Homer, who is 20 years old, made a statement on behalf of himself and his 13-year-old half-brother, Atlas, on Friday night.

He told People, “My brother Atlas and I lost our mother.” “After six days of almost unbelievable changes in how I feel, I’m left with a deep sadness I can’t describe. I hope my mom is no longer in pain and is starting to enjoy what I like to think of as her eternal freedom.

He also said, “During those six days, thousands of friends, family members, and fans told me how they felt. I’m thankful for their love and for the support of my dad, Coley, and my stepmom, Alexi, who continues to be my rock during this time.

Homer Heche said, “Rest in peace, Mom. I love you.”

A friend of the actor, Nancy Davis, posted on Instagram earlier on Friday: “Heaven has a new Angel. My friend @anneheche went to heaven. She was loving, kind, funny, sweet, and beautiful. I will miss her so much and will always remember all the good times we had together.

“Anne was always the kindest, most thoughtful person I’ve ever met, and she always brought out the best in me… My heart is broken.”

Ellen DeGeneres, who used to be with Heche, wrote on Twitter, “This is a sad day. I send all my love to Anne’s children, family, and friends.”

“Rest in peace now, Anne,” actor Patricia Arquette wrote in a tweet. Mark Harris, a well-known film historian, said on Twitter that Anne Heche was a very talented actress who had to go through more horror than anyone should have to. Harris linked to a 2009 article about the actress that talked about how hard her childhood was. “She deserves kindness when we think about her.”

Many people had hoped that Heche would get better after her publicist said she was in “stable” condition after she crashed her car into a house in Los Angeles on August 5. Firefighters said she talked to them as they freed her from the wreckage and took her to the hospital.

But the actor soon lost consciousness, and on August 8, representatives posted an update saying that Heche was in “extremely critical condition” and had gone into a coma. In a statement released on Friday, her family said that she was not expected to live, but that she was being kept alive to see if her organs could be donated.

Heche, a very smart actor, became well-known in the early 1990s when she played twins on the soap opera Another World and the sister of Catherine Keener in Nicole Holofcener’s first movie, Walking and Talking.

In the gangster movie Donnie Brasco, she played Johnny Depp’s girlfriend. This was her first big part (1997). In the same year, she was also in Wag the Dog, a political satire, Volcano, a disaster movie, and I Know What You Did Last Summer, a slasher classic.

In the same year, Heche started a high-profile relationship with Ellen DeGeneres, a sitcom star and talk show host, not long after DeGeneres came out as gay. The couple was together for three years. Heche thanked Harrison Ford for keeping working on the romance Six Days, Seven Nights, even though there was a homophobic backlash to the fact that he was dating Heche in real life.

In 1998, she played Marion Crane in Gus van Sant’s shot-for-shot remake of Hitchcock’s Psycho. For the next ten years, she made an average of one movie a year, choosing creatively challenging projects so she could still take care of her kids.

In Birth, a psychological drama by Jonathan Glazer, she was Nicole Kidman’s sister. In Spread, a hustler comedy, she was Ashton Kutcher’s girlfriend. In 2011, she was in the award-winning independent comedy Cedar Rapids and also played Woody Harrelson’s ex-wife in the movie Rampart, which was about a corrupt cop.

In a 2017 biopic, she played the mother of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. In the 2016 black comedy Catfight, she played an angry artist opposite Sandra Oh.

Benjamin Lee of the Guardian called that movie a “rare comedy with something to say and a unique, ambitious structure that goes far beyond its small budget.”

“Both of the main characters are great, but Heche is especially welcome on the big screen, where she gets to play more than just a supporting role.”

She also competed on the US show Dancing with the Stars in 2020.

In 2001, Heche wrote a book called Call Me Crazy about her troubled childhood. She was the youngest of five children, and her family moved 11 times while she was growing up.

Heche’s father died of AIDS when she was 13. She said he got it from a same-sex partner. Heche also said that her father raped her many times when she was a child, which is how she got genital herpes. Some of her family members didn’t believe what she said.

Nathan, Heche’s brother, died in a car accident three months after their father died. His sister said that Nathan killed himself. Heche and her mother soon stopped getting along.

Reports say that in 2000, Heche drove to the desert and walked a long way to a stranger’s ranch, where she asked to take a shower and then watched a movie in the living room.

When Heche didn’t leave, the owner of the house called the local sheriff. Heche was taken to a psychiatric unit for a short time, where she admitted to taking ecstasy. In her book, Heche writes that she was “crazy” for the first 31 years of her life because of what she says her father did to her.

Heche said that in the past when she needed to feel safe, she would retreat into a different persona: Christ’s half-sister who talked to aliens.

Heche got married to a cameraman named Coleman Laffoon in 2001, and they had a son named Homer. The marriage ended in divorce, and in 2009, Heche and her co-star from the movie Men in Trees, James Tupper, had another son, Atlas.
