Criminal Minds Evolution Season 2: There are always concerns about a potential rebirth on a different network or streaming provider when a fan’s favorite show is canceled. Fans occasionally get their want, but sometimes they don’t. Fortunately, fans of Criminal Minds are getting rewarded for their loyalty.
Criminal Minds: Evolution will premiere on Paramount Plus and continue where the first season left off. For the first season’s ten episodes, certain well-known actors are returning, including Joe Mantegna as Senior Agent David Rossi and Paget Brewster as Unit Chief Emily Prentiss.
It’s only reasonable to be curious about a potential second season, new cast members, or additional original cast members when you hear about a Criminal Minds resurrection. Here is what we currently know.
Will there be a Criminal Minds Evolution Season 2?
It appears promising! The second season of Criminal Minds: Evolution has virtually been assured by the show’s media coverage. The fact that certain former cast members could not return for the revival series owing to scheduling difficulties is one of the crucial pieces of information confirming a second season and possibly more.
TV Line reports that although creator Erica Messer recognized the absence of FBI Special Agents Matt Simmons (Daniel Henney) and Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), she insisted they had not vanished. The desks of Dr. Reid and, in my opinion, Matt Simmons is still there and still contain items, Erica remarked.
For example, if any of you returned to the workplace following the pandemic, you would still find items on your desk that had been there for two years. Therefore, we play that. However, Matt and Spencer have not disappeared. Therefore, based on that, one would infer that Criminal Minds: Evolution intends to stick around for a while. Season 2 has not yet been formally confirmed, and no release date has been set. Check The Latest Release of Cobra Kai Season 6
Criminal Minds Evolution Season 2 Storyline
This brand-new series, set in the post-Covid-19 era, will continue where the first one left off. The streaming version of the show will follow one plot over the entire season as opposed to a different case in each episode, in contrast to the cable TV show.
According to the official logline, Elias Voit, an unsub who has used the epidemic to create a network of other serial killers, will pose the greatest threat to the FBI’s elite criminal profilers. The web is now active as the globe opens again, and our squad must find them one murder at a time.
Criminal Minds Evolution Season 2 Cast
Fortunately, most of them will return for the revival—not all of them, though, as we’ll discuss in a moment—so it wouldn’t be the same without the recognizable faces, we got to know and love for 15 seasons.
Zach Gilford, a former Friday Night Lights cast member, was revealed by Paramount+ as the show’s first new cast member. Gilford will play a recurrent character throughout the season. Gilford will play Elias Voit, a cyber-security analyst with a dark side and a death obsession, in place of his usual role as the good guy.
Unlike previous unsubs, Voit will be investigated in a continuing arc for 10 episodes. Paget Brewster, the star, told reporters on September 21 that it was “very exciting” to say a little different story.
Main cast:
- Joe Mantegna as Senior Agent David Rossi
- A.J. Cook as Agent JJ Jareau
- Aisha Tyler as Dr. Tara Lewis
- Adam Rodriguez as Luke Alvez
- Kirsten Vangsness as Technical Analyst Penelope Garcia
- Paget Brewster as Unit Chief Emily Prentiss
- Zach Gilford as Elias Voit
Fans’ favorite Matthew Gray Gubler, who will not appear as brilliant FBI Special Agent Dr. Spencer Reid in the first set of episodes, is noticeably absent from the cast roster. Although he and Daniel Henney (Special Agent Matt Simmons), a Season 13 addition, could not make their schedules compatible for this season, the possibility of their returning in the future still exists.
According to TV Line, showrunner Erica Messer claimed that Matt and Spencer are inexplicably absent but “not forgotten” this season. She noted that the desks of Dr. Reid and Matt Simmons were still present and contained items. For example, if any of you returned to the workplace following the pandemic, you would still find things on your desk that had been there for two years. Therefore, we play that. However, Matt and Spencer have not disappeared. I hope they return for Season 2.

Criminal Minds Evolution Season 2 Will Be A Little Bit Different From the Original Series
The most crucial aspect of Criminal Minds: Evolution to remember is that this season will concentrate on one case instead of the first series, which tracked a different point in each episode. The crew is facing up against a potential record-breaking UnSub: a serial murderer who used the Covid-19 pandemic to create his network of other serial killers, as seen in the official trailer.
