Karine and Paul Staehle of 90 Day Fiancé have had a difficult few years. The previously estranged couple met online, and Paul finally traveled to Brazil to meet her.

They eventually chose to marry in November 2017. Unfortunately, their relationship quickly deteriorated. Their problems worsened once they married, and they divorced four years later. Karine and Paul did appear to reconnect again in April 2023.

Throughout their marriage, the pair experienced multiple breakups. Following multiple miscarriages that strained their relationship, the couple had two boys, Pierre and Ethan.

Their turbulent marriage resulted in a leaked film of their abusive relationship, which was shown to their sons. Karine’s and Paul’s children’s safety was jeopardized, and she lost custody in December 2021.

On the other hand, Karine lifted her restraining order against Paul in March 2023. Their custody struggle is still ongoing.

According to InTouch Weekly, a source told the publication that the volatile couple will reunite in April 2023. Karine “begged [Paul] to come back” from Brazil.

Paul had even paid Karine a birthday tribute on his private Instagram three months before, implying reconciliation was possible. Karine has appeared single since her breakup with Josh Seiter in December 2022.

Karine and Paul’s 90-Day Fiancé Still Doesn’t Have Custody

Despite their reunification, the ex-couple still does not have custody of their children. The kids were put with a foster family after a video of Karine abusing Paul was leaked.

Karine had custody of Pierre until the restraining orders were lifted in August 2020, when the couple was served with them. She then let go of the two lads.

Then, in December 2021, Paul was able to get custody. Both children are now in foster care due to their lengthy custody problem.

In July 2022, Paul provided an update on the situation. He hoped the legal proceedings would be completed by July and the best course of action would be followed.

He also stated that the children would likely live with his parents while he and Karine plan their next life steps. Karine also provided an update on the custody proceedings scheduled for August 10, 2022.

She stated that she cannot discuss the pending court processes, but that her children remain her first priority. She also chastised trolls for presuming she is unconcerned about her children.

Ethan and Pierre are currently in foster care, where a source told InTouch Weekly in January 2023 that they were “thriving very much and changed tremendously.”

They also stated that not being visible on social media had benefited them. As of April 2023, the boys were still in foster care with the same family, and it is unknown whether Karine and Paul are actively battling for ownership.

Despite their April 2023 reunion, Karine and Paul have failed to obtain custody of their children. After the upheaval of the last few years, the two must be utterly devoted to each other and their children before uprooting them from their new life in foster care.
