One person was killed and seven others were hurt in a shooting in Oakland, California, on Monday night, police said.

The Oakland Police Department said in a statement that officers were sent to the 5900 block of Macarthur Boulevard just after 6:00 p.m. to look into an alert from a ShotSpotter, which is a technology that detects gunshots.

The statement said that when police arrived at the scene, they found “several casings” but no people. During the investigation, police said they found out that several people had shot at each other.

Seven people were killed in Northern California, making it the third mass shooting in the state in three days. Then, multiple hospitals started telling the police that they had patients with gunshot wounds who had driven themselves to the hospitals for care.

Just hours earlier about 40 miles southwest of Oakland, seven people were killed and one was critically wounded in shootings at two locations in Half Moon Bay, officials said. A 67-year-old suspect is in custody.

And in Southern California, 11 people were killed in a mass shooting Saturday night in Monterey Park.
