According to the police, a 23-year-old lady was murdered in a dramatic one-car crash on Staten Island, which split the car along its length.

One Island business owner reporting to work likened the bloody, debris-strewed crash site to “Beirut.” Authorities said that an unidentified female passenger in a white Dodge sedan was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries.

The incident occurred at 4:45 a.m. on Saturday, according to official reports.

According to the NYPD, a 30-year-old male was traveling south when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a “barrier wall” in front of 2545 Hylan Blvd., near New Dorp Lane, in the New Dorp neighborhood.

Afterward, “it seems the vehicle impacted a utility pole,” an NYPD spokesman said. The 23-year-old female passenger was declared dead at the scene, but the driver only sustained minor injuries. The operator “has been taken into jail and charges are pending,” a spokeswoman for the NYPD said.

When Mario Basso and his staff arrived at the H2O Auto Spa on Hylan Boulevard at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, they found police investigating the crash scene, which was located within a hundred feet of their establishment.

Basso, visibly shaken, stated, “The automobile was sliced in half, and I don’t know how the utility [pole] is still standing, it was hit so hard.”

The owner, in shock, expressed his condolences to the victim’s family, saying, “It’s a tragedy and it was a dreadful morning for everybody concerned.” It seems like everyone is quite upset. It seems to be the city of Beirut. There’s broken glass and blood splattered everywhere.
