In connection with the shooting death of a Lake St. Louis girl, two adolescents from St. Charles have been detained and are now being charged.
Earlier than 8:50 p.m. on Saturday, St. Charles police were called to St. Joseph’s Hospital in response to a shooting, according to police spokesperson Lt. Thomas Wilkison.
According to Wilkison, a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old male were shot before they got to the hospital. The boy drove the 15-year-old victim to the hospital to report the incident after she was shot in the chest.
The little girl passed away in the hospital. Her identity has not been made public.
According to Wilkison, the 17-year-old informed officers they had been invited to meet two people around Perry Street and Oak Avenue. The purpose of the meeting is yet unknown.

The two people who had requested the meet-up approached the 17-year-old and 15-year-old on foot, pulled a firearm, and proclaimed a robbery when they arrived at the location. The 15-year-old girl was hit in the chest by one of the armed attackers who fired into the vehicle.
“It happened about 8:33 p.m.,” said Laura Routh, a St. Charles resident. “We heard a gunshot on the camera, and then we have footage of the fugitive, assuming that he is still out there. He ran between my neighbors houses and then just ran up the street.”
With the assistance of the neighborhood, Wilkison claimed that St. Charles homicide detectives scoured the area from Saturday night to Sunday and identified two adolescents as persons of interest.
“The community partnered with the police department, and we were quickly able to identify two persons of interest in this investigation,” Wilkinson said. “Last night, St. Charles detectives located a 16-year-old white teenager and a 17-year-old black teenager in St. Louis County.”
“Those two were taken into custody. During the investigation, a nine millimeter Smith and Wesson handgun believed to have been the handgun used in this murder was located and seized from a house here in St. Charles.”
The boys are accused of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, and armed criminal action in St. Charles County Family Court. Their identities have not been made public. According to Wilkinson, the suspects are held in a juvenile detention facility until the case progresses.
Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the St. Charles Police Department since they are still seeking answers to unanswered questions about the case.
