A Brackenridge police officer was shot and killed Monday, and another officer was hurt. Police said that the suspect was shot and killed later that night.

In one, Kearns said, a police officer was shot in the head and killed. The name of the officer who died has not been made public, but sources told CBS Pittsburgh that he was Brackenridge Police Chief Justin McIntire, who had been in that position since 2018.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro wrote on Twitter, “Police Chief Justin McIntire ran toward danger to keep Pennsylvanians safe, and he made the ultimate sacrifice for his community.”

In the second event, another officer was shot in the leg. Kearns said that the officer was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition.

Police say that the suspect was hurt, but he was able to get away after stealing a car. The suspect led the police on another chase after they found the stolen car. Police say he crashed and then ran into some woods. Kearns said that after he came out of the woods, he went to an open area in a housing development and started shooting at police officers. Kearns says that when the officers fired back, Swan was killed.

Police say that the people who owned the stolen car were not hurt.

Swan was wanted because he was on probation and was accused of breaking it by having weapons. Police caught up with him Sunday night, but he was able to get away after a chase.

The town of Brackenridge is in Alleghany County, a few miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
